We added Pilates with Shieri Shelly Yamafuji to our regular class schedule in January 2022, and the classes have benefited so many in our community as a complement to our yoga offerings. Pilates supports a deeper awareness of the core, helping cultivate greater stability, strength, and alignment both on and off the mat. It has been especially beneficial for those navigating back pain, recovering from injury, or seeking to build a stronger foundation for their yoga practice.
Shieri's mindful, therapeutic approach to mat Pilates is unique and deeply appreciated. Our hope is that this training will empower more teachers with the skills, confidence, and Pilates Mat certification needed to share this thoughtful approach and offer exceptional mindful Pilates classes.
Mindful Pilates Comprehensive Mat Teacher Training with Shieri
3 weekends, October 3 + 4, 10 + 11, 24 + 25
This 35-hour Comprehensive Pilates Mat Training offers a thorough and immersive experience designed for mindful, therapeutic teaching.
The program begins with an Introduction to Pilates, covering its principles, benefits, and essential anatomy and kinesiology, including the respiratory system. You will learn over 30 foundational exercises, broken down in a precise, mindful, and therapeutic approach.
Special guest lectures from a physical therapist and a 900-hour Pilates Reformer instructor provide insights into common challenges and special conditions, offering a deeper understanding of the body in movement.
This program was designed to answer the questions I wished I had when starting out—a curriculum that is complete and self-sufficient, enabling you to teach with confidence without needing to learn Pilates machines, while still providing everything you need for a safe, effective, and mindful mat practice.
